Hudson’s Story

Welcome to Razed From The Dull, a knife sharpening service in La Mesa, CA operated by 14-year-old Hudson V, aka “Huddy.” Hudson has been honing his skills in knife sharpening for the past 3 years, sharpening all types of blades in his parent’s basement and grandparent’s shed, and now in his own office space in La Mesa.

Hudson’s passion for knife sharpening began at a young age and has since developed into a true talent. At the age of 11, he began sharpening his high-end filet knives for his other hobby [obsession],…fishing.  From there, he continued to learn, experiment, and practice the fine art of blade sharpening, moving on to chef’s knives, garden blades, axes, and just about any blade he could get his hands on to practice and perfect.  

In 2022, Hudson began an entrepreneurial homeschooling program that required he develop and run a small business.  While most kids chose mowing lawns and selling lemonade, Hudson took his mastered skill of knife sharpening and made a legitimate business out of it.  And from there, Razed From The Dull was born. (And – yep, this website you are exploring was also built by the quite talented Mr. Hudson).

Here in 2023 as a professional blade sharpener, Hudson has serviced hundreds of blades, while continuing to constantly learn and experiment with new techniques & sharpening tools, to provide the best possible results for his customers.

Hudson’s Other Hobbies, Passions, and/or Obsessions

As you see in Hudson’s photos, he is also an avid fisherman.  On his off-days, Hudson can be found competing in bass fishing tournaments on his own (operating a 21-ft bass boat all by himself), fishing 60+ miles offshore for yellowtail and tuna in his grandpa’s sportfisher, or mountain biking in Crest, Mt Laguna, and other favorite trails.
